Half (.5) Graduate Assistant - Biology, Lab Prep Assistant
Position Description
The Half Graduate Assistant (.5 GA) will work 10 hours per week and receive up to 15 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 6 for fall, 6 for spring and 3 for summer.
Description of Duties
The .5 GA will assist with maintenance of biology lab spaces and preparation of materials for laboratory experiments including:
  • Making and diluting solutions of reagents
  • Keeping labs stocked
  • Updating the chemical inventory
  • General lab organization
  • Maintenance of labs in compliance with safety regulations.

Outcomes/Benefits
This position will enable the .5 GA to develop skills and experience in the upkeep of functional biological teaching laboratories, preparation of common laboratory supplies such as solutions and agar plates, following standard laboratory protocols, and maintenance of basic laboratory equipment.
