What You'll Do

The BIM Specialist serves as the technical authority and primary resource for Building Information Modeling practices across project delivery teams. This role bridges the gap between project execution and organizational capability - responsible for developing standards, transferring knowledge, and driving consistent BIM adoption from preconstruction through closeout.The position requires hands-on platform proficiency combined with the ability to communicate complex workflows clearly to audiences ranging from field staff to project executives. Equal parts practitioner and educator, the BIM Specialist shapes how the organization models, coordinates, and delivers data-rich project information.

  • Develop and maintain BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), modeling protocols, and LOD/LOI matrices.Establish and enforce file naming conventions, work-sharing structures, and template libraries.Adapt or build upon existing client, contract, or industry standards (ISO 19650, COBie, NBIMS).Assist in the development, organization, and refinement of proposal documents to support project pursuits and client engagements.Conduct model audits and quality control reviews across active projects.Evaluate, pilot, and document new BIM tools and platform integrations.
  • Design and deliver role-based BIM training for technical and non-technical staff.
  • Provide project-embedded mentorship during critical phases - coordination, clash review, and model handoff.
  • Develop written guides, reference sheets, and onboarding materials for BIM workflows.
  • Lead coordination meetings and act as liaison between design, construction, and owner teams on model-related issues.
  • Support project teams in Common Data Environment (CDE) setup and common data environment management.
What You'll Bring
  • 2-year Associate's Degree in Design (or relevant) required, 4-year Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience working in a BIM or data environment
  • Curiosity for and willingness to learn about the major components of a substation is required. Basic knowledge of these components is a plus.  Previous design or construction experience is highly desirable.
  • More experience performing detailed design for high voltage substation projects could result in a higher-level position.
  • Word processing, spread sheet, and e-mail software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working in a team environment
  • Communicating effectively with co-workers
  • Able to deal with ambiguity and ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and determine priorities in a complex environment.

Travel Requirements:

  • Role will require travel as necessary to achieve job responsibilities, up to 10-25% of the time.
