Legal Billing Specialist

JK Executive Strategies is proud to partner with a well-respected law firm in search of a Legal Billing Specialist to join its team! Our client, a firm of more than 300 attorneys across over 30 practice and industry groups, is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Legal Billing Specialist to support its Accounting Department. This individual will manage key aspects of the billing process, including preparing and reviewing client pre-bills, processing invoices, monitoring billing status and Work in Process aging, and responding to attorney and client billing needs. The Legal Billing Specialist will collaborate closely with attorneys, finance, and client teams to ensure accurate, timely billing while resolving discrepancies and maintaining organized billing records.


Responsibilities

  • Generate, review, and edit client pre-bills for accuracy
  • Coordinate the distribution of prebills and follow up with attorneys to ensure timely processing and approval
  • Prepare, review, and submit invoices via mail or email based on client requirements
  • Monitor invoice status and follow up on missing information, discrepancies or delays
  • Respond promptly to attorney and client-specific billing requests and questions
  • Perform monthly review and follow-up on Work in Process aging to ensure matters are billed timely
  • Collaborate with billing attorneys, finance, and client teams to resolve billing issues
  • Maintain organized billing records and documentation to support audits and inquiries
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc billing needs as assigned


Requirements

  • Legal background required, with a solid understanding of billing practices in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • 2โ€“3 years of billing processing experience preferred, with demonstrated ability to manage complex billing cycles.
  • Experience with the Aderant Accounting System preferred; familiarity with other legal billing platforms is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills required, with the ability to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; advanced skills in data management and reporting are advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, with the ability to interact effectively with attorneys, clients, and colleagues.
  • Collaborative team player who can also work independently, demonstrating initiative and accountability.

Salary Range

  • $50,000 to $60,000
