The Billing Associate at Interstate Waste Services is essential for ensuring accurate and timely invoicing for waste management services. This role involves preparing, reviewing, and processing customer invoices, resolving billing discrepancies, maintaining accurate customer records, and collaborating with internal teams to address billing inquiries and ensure revenue collection. The Billing Associate plays a vital role in maintaining the financial health of the company through meticulous attention to detail and effective communication. 


  • Process and generate billing for assigned market areas including all lines of business
  • Create and issue accurate invoices to customers
  • Transmit files to print to vendors and customers
  • Post all billing transactions
  • Creates and mails manual invoices as needed
  • Create and process adjustments
  • Research and resolve customer issues
  • Answer customer queries via phone/email
  • Prepare and monitor all monthly billing reports
  • Manage account balances and resolve inconsistencies
  • Prepare and/or complete proper spreadsheets and online portals for customers
  • Update accounting records with issued invoices, processed payments, new balances, and customer contact information
  • Collaborate with other teams to resolve billing disputes
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by Billing Supervisor

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • 1-3 years of billing, bookkeeping, finance, or a related role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Specifically, Exce
  • Bilingual preferred; able to read, write, and speak Spanish proficiently
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-tasking and can work effectively with other team members
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Able to work overtime as needed
