Job Summary

The Bilingual HR Generalist will assist with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties for a multi-location company. This position has responsibility for the following functional areas: employee relations, performance management, administration of policies and procedures with other duties including HRIS data entry and maintenance, training, and other projects as assigned. This role will be based 100% on-site with occasional opportunity to work remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary Human Resources point of contact for employees and leaders for assigned location(s) or department(s) in the use of human resource programs and processes
  • Manage employee relations concerns including conducting investigations and recommending outcomes collaboration with management including regular time spent on manufacturing floor
  • Partner with and coach leaders to facilitate the performance management process for employees and to support performance counseling and progressive disciplinary documentation
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs
  • Conduct new employee orientation on HR policies and benefits
  • Maintain employee files and records
  • Review, track, assign, and document compliance with training, continuing education, and work assessments; this may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and other exams and certifications
  • Serve as back up for all payroll processes
  • Conduct exit interviews and other offboarding activities
  • Participate in audits requiring HR information as assigned
  • Assist with employee engagement and recognition events and programs
  • Perform additional tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leave of absence, performance and talent management, occupational health and safety, human resources business partner functions, and training and development

This is not an exhaustive list and other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish required
  • 5+ years working in employee-facing human resources role
  • Strong employee relations experience required; experience in a union and manufacturing/distribution/logistics environment preferred
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations (primarily Illinois and national)
  • Professional experience working with an ATS/Hirebridge, HRIS/talent management system, Microsoft 365 required
  • Experience working in/processing payroll strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

Preferred hours 8:00am to 4:30pm
