Job description

Position Summary: This position will perform civil engineering tasks, including hydrology/hydraulic analysis for various industrial, institutional, and commercial buildings and other projects as assigned. This position will report to a licensed Civil Engineer and learn the skills to become a lead civil engineer.

Basic Duties:

  • Collaborate as part of a multi-discipline project team for the successful completion of projects of various sizes. 
  • Prepare engineering computations and estimates.
  • Hydrology and hydraulic analysis with hydrology report preparation and updates.
  • Development of civil engineering plans and designs.
  • Drafting of designs utilizing AutoCAD and Civil 3D software. 
  • Prepare engineering design packages for agency review and approval. 
  • Prepare civil material take-offs (MTOs) and work with cost estimators to establish project cost estimates. 
  • Analyze quotations and bids and make purchase recommendations. 
  • Analyze and control project costs, budgets and schedules. 
  • Conduct site investigations, as needed. 
  • Coordinate with field personnel for design clarifications and solutions to issues arising during construction. 
  • Interface with clients as needed and document findings in report format. 
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for projects as needed. 
  • Available for other duties and assignments as required. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of relative industrial, commercial, or land development experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or related field.
  • EIT (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Experience with surface modeling and analysis.
  • Working knowledge and experience using AutoCAD and MS Office.
  • Candidate must be able to travel domestically & internationally, to other M3 offices and project sites to provide field support for new and ongoing projects.
  • Must be able to work in a project team and maintain a project schedule, be a self- starter, detail-oriented, and have exceptional organizational skills.
  • Must be able to interact with clients and co-workers in a professional and respectful manner and work in a team environment sharing roles and responsibilities, with limited supervision.
  • Valid passport or the ability to obtain one is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous mining experience.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish abilities.
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary design and construction projects.
