Position Overview:

Assist the Accounting Manager with preparing various accounting reports and records used by managers throughout the Credit Union. Reconcile and research outages for various general ledger accounts. Provide guidance and training to less experienced accounting staff on an informal basis.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Balance and reconcile various general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and resolve general ledger outages in a timely manner.
  • Complete accounting functions in accordance with established policies and regulatory requirements
  • Research budget variances and exceptions found in accounting reports
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly accounting and financial reports
  • Assist with preparation of regulatory reports
  • Participate in the preparation for the annual audits
  • Track daily cash management needs
  • Maintain regular contact with other departments to obtain information and/or correct transactions.
  • Use accounting systems to facilitate processes and maintain records
  • Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience as an Accountant or Sr. Accountant.
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Well organized with ability to prioritize
  • A solid understanding of the reconciliation process
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to solve problems
  • Credit Union knowledge preferred
  • Working knowledge of MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, etc.
  • All qualified candidates must pass a credit and background check
