ASSOCIATE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER

EMPLOYMENT TYPE Full-time

JOB DESCRIPTION

Chenhall Staffing is seeking an Associate Construction Project Manager to support construction and facilities projects for the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), with a focus on schools within the Navajo Nation. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to build a career in construction project management, working directly alongside experienced Senior and Advanced Construction Project Managers.

This position offers hands-on exposure to real federal construction projects, direct mentorship, and the chance to make a meaningful impact supporting school infrastructure in the communities you'll be working in.

Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Project Managers in tracking project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure alignment with project objectives
  • Maintain and update project tracking tools, including Maximo and other BIE systems
  • Support preparation of project status reports, meeting notes, and updates for BIE leadership and stakeholders
  • Assist in identifying project risks and escalating issues to Senior Project Managers
  • Serve as a point of contact for assigned BIE schools, coordinating with facility managers and school leadership
  • Facilitate communication between schools and project teams to ensure documentation flows appropriately
  • Assist in collecting field data and verifying facility conditions to support project scope development
  • Support development of preliminary cost estimates and project documentation
  • Assist with review of project designs, drawings, and specifications
  • Support coordination of RFIs, submittals, and other construction documentation
  • Participate in site visits and inspections, documenting progress and findings
  • Assist in monitoring contractor performance and documenting field conditions
  • Maintain organized electronic project files, correspondence, and reports
  • Support data collection and reporting for project prioritization and program performance tracking

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (or better) from an accredited college or university in construction management, engineering technology, architecture, project management, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in construction, facilities, or project coordination (internships and academic project experience accepted)
  • Basic understanding of construction terminology, materials, and methods of installation
  • Familiarity with, or ability to learn, construction scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; ability to learn Maximo and RSMeans/CostWorks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize, track, and maintain project documentation
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently to BIE school sites, primarily within the Navajo Nation
  • Must reside within or in close proximity to the Navajo Nation

Compensation Up to $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Travel Frequent travel to BIE school sites within and near the Navajo Nation, with occasional nationwide travel.
