Job description

Job Title: Thrift Store Associate

Classification: Part Time. Non-exempt

Reports to: Store Manager/Assigned Manager or Supervisor

MISSION STATEMENT:

Liberty Ministries exists to serve offenders in prison and ex-offenders in the community by showing God’s love, providing practical assistance, and supporting Biblical standards of justice.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Store Associate is responsible for a variety of duties in the daily operations of the store and plays a vital role in providing an extraordinary staff, donor, volunteer, and customer experience. This role is cross trained to perform various tasks throughout the workday as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Greet customers and donors entering the Store ensuring each receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment.
  2. Prices product and stocks merchandise paying attention to presentation.
  3. Intake appropriate donations while answering customer/donor questions and follow inventory procedures.
  4. Demonstrate qualities to promote a positive, safe and clean work environment.
  5. Exhibit a can-do attitude and flexibility to tackle ad hoc tasks as needed.
  6. Receive payment by cash, credit cards, or automatic debits. Maintain a high level of accuracy in cash management.
  7. Other duties as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be friendly, personable and customer service focused with good discernment on proper customer interaction.
  2. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, stretch, push, pull, and lift to 20-30 pounds and stand for the entire shift.
  3. Must be able to communicate in English, including reading, writing and counting.
  4. Must be able to operate store equipment efficiently (POS System, Production Computers, pallet jack, etc.)
  5. Must take direction well.
  6. Be neat in appearance and practice good personal hygiene.
  7. Must be in good physical and mental health, able to stand for long periods of time with emotional maturity and stability along with a sense of humor.
  8. Must be supportive of working for a Christian Ministry, accepting the Mission Statements of Liberty Thrift and Liberty Ministries.
  9. Must be willing and able to function in many capacities as needed.
  10. Must be able to work without immediate supervision.
  11. Good organizational skills.
  12. Must be honest and trustworthy with customer’s information and their monetary exchanges.
  13. Flexible schedule based on the needs of the business and available to work Saturdays.
