Job description

BI Data/Solution Architect

The Principal BI Data Platform Architect role is responsible for solution design focusing on the strategic direction of the organization's data tier. This individual will work closely with Finance business, IT leadership, peer Architects and Developers to provide world class BI solutions supporting a global enterprise infrastructure ensuring scalability, performance and availability of data.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Responsible for architecting and implementing the conceptual, logical and physical data models to support the enterprise information strategies of the finance organization, the business intelligence agenda as well as our self-service analytics approach.
  • Responsible for the integrity and quality of data and information stored and flowing between business applications, the enterprise data warehouse, data marts and business intelligence applications.
  • Work directly with project teams and solution owners to ensure that new and existing solutions adhere to the architecture standards and that they have controls in place to maintain a high level of data quality.
  • Responsible to ensure that the business intelligence team and technology team is managing and maintaining the data catalog, definitions, standards, governance and regulations surrounding data in the environment.
  • Work with business leaders to gather and translate business requirements into data and information requirements for custom development efforts and business intelligence efforts.
  • Work with the BI Team to design and implement efficient and accurate Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) activities.
  • Work with the Business and BSA to ensure that data provided in Reports, Dashboards and other analytical applications is used appropriately and governance rules are adhered to.
  • Decompose, prioritize and provide workable solutions to solve complex business problems using data and analytics.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Business, Math or related field. Masters preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in information technology.
  • At least 5 years of data architecture experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Power BI, Microsoft SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and related technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure BI and Analytics Stack including Azure SQL and related technologies.
  • Practical experience in participating and running data management programs.
  • Experience with enterprise data management technologies including data warehouses, ETL tools, SQL, and master data management solutions.
  • Strong understanding of scalable cloud architecture
  • Experience with visualization and reporting technologies.
  • Experience in gathering and interpreting business requirements and translating them into insightful reporting solutions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills – both written and oral.
  • Strong organizational skills – must be able to design, lead and manage teams composed of stakeholders across diverse teams/domains.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Big data components/Frameworks such as Hadoop, HDFS, etc
  • Deep understanding of Finance data, application, server, and network security
  • Experience designing and building dashboards, visualizations, and analytics using OBI
