What is an ETL job?

An ETL job involves extracting data from various sources, transforming it into a suitable format, and loading it into a target database or data warehouse. ETL developers typically use tools like Informatica, Talend, or Apache NiFi and require knowledge of SQL and data modeling. These jobs are essential for data integration and analytics workflows.

What are some common challenges faced by ETL Data professionals, and how can they be addressed on the job?

ETL Data professionals often encounter challenges such as managing data quality issues, handling large volumes of data efficiently, and integrating data from disparate sources. Addressing these challenges typically involves implementing robust data validation procedures, optimizing ETL pipelines for performance, and maintaining clear documentation for data mappings and transformations. Collaborating closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders can also help identify and resolve data inconsistencies early in the process.

Will AI replace ETL?

AI can automate certain aspects of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, improving efficiency and reducing manual effort. However, ETL data professionals are still needed to design, oversee, and troubleshoot complex data workflows and ensure data quality. AI tools complement human expertise but are unlikely to fully replace ETL roles in the near future.

What is an ETL developer's salary?

An ETL developer's salary varies based on experience, location, and industry, but typically ranges from $70,000 to $120,000 annually. Skilled professionals with expertise in tools like Informatica, Talend, or Apache NiFi and knowledge of SQL and data warehousing tend to earn higher salaries.

Is ETL testing a good career?

ETL testing is a valuable career in data management, involving validating data extraction, transformation, and loading processes to ensure data quality. It requires knowledge of SQL, data warehousing concepts, and testing tools, making it a specialized and in-demand skill set in data-driven industries.

What is an ETL Data professional?

An ETL Data professional is responsible for designing, developing, and managing processes that Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data from various sources into a database or data warehouse. They ensure that data is accurately collected, cleaned, and formatted to support business analysis and reporting needs. ETL professionals work with various tools and programming languages to automate data workflows, maintain data integrity, and optimize performance. Their role is crucial in helping organizations make data-driven decisions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ETL Data professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as an ETL Data professional, you need strong analytical skills, proficiency in database management, and a solid understanding of data modeling, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with ETL tools like Informatica, Talend, or SSIS, and knowledge of SQL and scripting languages are commonly required, with certifications in these tools being advantageous. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are critical soft skills for collaborating with stakeholders and troubleshooting data issues. These skills ensure accurate, efficient data integration and transformation, supporting reliable business intelligence and decision-making.

What is the difference between Etl Data vs Data Analyst?

AspectEtl DataData Analyst
Required SkillsData integration, SQL, scripting, ETL toolsData analysis, visualization, SQL, Excel

Job description

Hello There,

My name is Himanshu Sharma, and I serve as the Recruitment Lead at Kanak-IT INC. I am reaching out to share an excellent career opportunity for the role of ETL/Data Developer with our esteemed client. If you are interested then please share your updated resume at Himanshu01@kanakits.com .

Job Description

Position           : ETL/Data Developer

Location          : Malvern, PA Hybrid (3 days a week onsite & must be willing to relocate and be onsite on day 1)

Duration         : Long term contract

*Must complete a coding assessment*

Complete proof of concept, setup, and development work with existing vendor products to support specific requirements and use cases for a critical initiative that a line of business relies on the de-identification program for.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Expanding usage of current tool to additional data stores
  • Working with existing de-identification program tech lead, product architect, and product manager to develop in existing product
  • Development, testing, and deployment

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience required
  • Expertise in ETL development and data pipeline engineering
  • Experience with data privacy and de-identification methods
  • Skilled in using AWS tools such as Redshift, Athena, and Glue

The pipelines are already created so they will not be building data pipelines. The resource will be "editing and customizing the pipelines". They need to know the ETL process and the movement of data but they will be doing more of the triggering of the process.
