Description

An amazing opportunity exists for a passionate and driven Sommelier to join our Team. The Sommelier / Beverage Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Club's beverage and wine program, including the retail wine program, managing all wine selections and purchasing, wine service, bar operations, inventory management, staff development, member events, and beverage profitability. The perfect candidate will require excellent people skills, and a passion and love of wine, food and service.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Lead and oversee all beverage and bar operations throughout the Club
  • Curate and maintain an innovative wine, spirits, beer, cocktail, and non-alcoholic beverage program
  • Serve as the Club's Sommelier, providing wine recommendations and elevated tableside service
  • Direct and oversee the Club's comprehensive wine program, including wine selection, purchasing, inventory control, storage, retail wine sales, and wine list management for all dining venues, special events, and private functions.
  • Administer the Club's retail wine program by processing and fulfilling member wine orders while ensuring accurate billing, inventory management, and order tracking.
  • Negotiate purchase prices with vendors.
  • Maintain the accuracy and presentation of wine lists, including pricing, vintages, descriptions, availability, and regional information.
  • Manage beverage purchasing, inventory controls, pricing, and cost management
  • Coordinate wine dinners, tastings, member events, and beverage promotions
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate bar staff and beverage team members.
  • Train and mentor beverage and food & beverage staff on wine knowledge, service standards, and upselling techniques
  • Develop seasonal beverage menus and collaborate with the culinary team on food and wine pairings
  • Monitor beverage sales and implement strategies to drive revenue growth and operational efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with all alcohol service regulations, sanitation standards, and safety procedures
  • Support overall dining room operations and assist with floor management as needed
  • All other duties as assigned.

ABOUT BAY COLONY

The Beach Club at Bay Colony is one of the of the most upscale private clubs in Naples, Florida, it overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and is located within the Bay Colony Estates, a private, gated community situated on two hundred acres on the Gulf of Mexico. The community consists of five (5) neighborhoods and eleven (11) luxury condominiums, with 940 doors.ย ย ย 

The Beach Club is an elegantly casual, 14,000 square foot food and beverage operation situated on the Gulf of Mexico. The Beach Club has several components that make up the $3M revenue budget.ย ย ย 

  • The Gulf Room seats 86 and includes unique dining 'pods' for privacy and perfect views. This room includes a private dining area that seats approximately 20 for more intimate dinnersย 
  • Middle Shores is an area seating 38, the "in-between" area between the casual bar dining and the Gulf Room.ย ย ย ย 
  • Casual dining and bar. The bar seats 14 and the casual area seats 54.ย ย 
  • The Sunset Terrace is a recent addition to the newly renovated Beach Club and seats 38.ย ย 
  • The Chickee Bar and Pool Deck seats 130ย 
  • The Beach is a private beach that offers a full-service bar and lunch.ย

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum Level 2 Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers (CMS) required
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience managing beverage programs in a high-end private club, luxury hotel, or upscale restaurant environment
  • Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, cocktails, beer, and current beverage trends
  • Experience with beverage inventory controls, purchasing, costing, and revenue generation
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and member service skills
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during peak season operations
  • Thorough knowledge of beverage controls and mixology.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to meet with wine producers and visit wine-tasting events.
  • Must have culinary knowledge required for wine pairings.ย
