Your Role in Synergy's SuccessThe position offers you, an experienced Beverage Development Professional, the opportunity to join Synergy Flavors, one of the leading international suppliers of flavor and ingredients to the global food and beverage industry. You will be able to work with a team of technologists that have developed some of the market leading beverage products you see in stores today.
Independently owned by Carbery, Synergy Flavors has the benefit of over 130 years of flavor industry tradition. Synergy's American headquarters is located in Wauconda, Illinois with additional operations in Rochester, New York; Hamilton, Ohio; and Brazil. Additionally, we have operations in the UK, Ireland and Thailand.How You Will Contribute
  • Independently develop and optimize finished product formulations using various flavor delivery systems

  • Have ability to reverse engineer finished products from label declaration and nutrition panels.

  • Must possess thorough understanding of finished product batching and processing.

  • Must possess general flavor knowledge.

  • Stay current with new ingredients, flavors trends and changes to industry standards

  • Provide technical support to customers during demos and presentations with account managers.

  • Lead cross functional teams and key accounts to create demos and presentation

  • Provide technical support at plant trials and production runs for customers.

  • Participate in routine taste panels

  • Understands the background of incoming requests

  • Leads projects independently in terms of planning, analysis, and communication

  • Able to solve complex problems; capable of collecting information from various sources both internal and external

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Broad understanding of Synergy business

  • Mentor and coach junior employees

In order to be successful in this position we require:

  • Bachelor of Science in Food Science or other applied science

  • 7 or more years of application lab experience in beverage product development

  • A strong background in carbonated soft drinks or juices and/or experience running a Microthermics is a plus

  • The ability to work accurately, quickly and with good laboratory practices across multiple projects within the day / week.

  • The ability to take a beverage product from conception through development to commercialization.

  • You must possess good documentation skills and be adept at working within programs such as Excel, Word & assorted databases.

  • You must have knowledge of recipes, basic mixing and blending skills and the ability to follow formulations precisely

  • The ability and interest to interact directly with customers or travel with Account Managers

  • We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, a team player, engaging and able to communicate their thoughts and ideas effectively

Starting Range: $82,000 - $110,500

The actual compensation that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience and other relevant factors. This role will remain open until filled.
