Job description

Job Title: Housekeeping Worker

Location: Newark Beth Israel Medical Ctr

Department Name: Environmental Services

Shift: Night

Pay Range: $20.68 - $20.68 per hour

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Housekeeping Worker is responsible for cleaning and supplying patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary areas, and other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with the Medical Center objectives.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Successful completion of general and department specific orientation

Preferred:

  • High School Diploma 
  • Previous Hospital housekeeping  

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Status: Full Time
  • Shift: Night
  • Hours: 11:00pm-7:00am
  • Required to work rotating weekends and holidays

Essential Functions:

  • Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops and community affairs
  • Assists in cleaning of emergency spills observed or upon request
  • Cleans housekeeping closet and maintains par levels
  • Collects and transports all waste, including RMW, according to policy
  • Compacts trash or places in containers
  • Damp buffs and shampoo carpets with approved equipment
  • Dry and wet mop floors of rooms and offices
  • Dust mops and wet mops' corridors, stairwells and other common areas.
  • Empties waste receptacles and removes trash
  • Maintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and has repairs made when needed
  • Observes and reports the need to repair equipment, furniture, building and fixtures
  • Performs patient discharge cleaning using a 7-step cleaning procedure
  • Refills paper towels, toilet paper, soap and toilet seat dispensers
  • Patient Ready Room: All patient rooms must be patient ready at all times. A tent card must be in every patient's room. Toilet seat band must be on every toilet.
  • Privacy curtains must be in every patient's room
