Description & Requirements
AHWFB Department of Medicine, Section on Hospital Medicine is seeking an Academic Nocturnist with training in Internal Medicine to join our dynamic inpatient team at Baptist Medical Center, in Winston Salem, North Carolina and Davie Medical Center, in Bermuda Run, North Carolina.
Position Information:
  • Full-time, non-tenured faculty position
  • Cover night shifts at NC Baptist Medical Center (75%), which is the Flagship Hospital of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist System in Winston Salem, North Carolina
  • Primarily admitting responsibilities
  • Perform perioperative management and pre-op risk assessments for orthopedic/surgical patients
  • Supervision and education of Internal Medicine residents at night
  • No ward cross-cover
  • Strong support from medical and surgical specialties
  • Closed ICU
  • Cover night shifts at Davie Medical Center (25%), which is a 50 bed community hospital with 36 medicine beds, in Bermuda Run, North Carolina
  • Admitting and consultation responsibilities
  • Cross-coverage of all ward patients, including but not limited to assessing patients and developing appropriate plans as needed for any acute events of changes in patient status and good communication with nursing
  • Determine patients that require transfer to tertiary hospital and facilitating such transfer
  • No ICU
  • Respond to Rapid Responses and CODES for your patients
  • Coordinating with Nursing Staff and responding to questions/concerns overnight
  • Provide appropriate hand-off/sign-out at the conclusion of their shift to the day team
  • Procedural skills not required
  • EPIC electronic medical records
  • Uphold AHWFB missions, values, and cultural commitment

Training and/or Experience Required
Position Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and ACGME-accepted Internal Medicine residency program.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
  • Active license to practice as physician from NC Med Board.
  • ACLS certification.
