Job description

Job Title: Senior Benefits Administrator
Job Description
The Senior Benefits Administrator oversees the day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs, ensuring accurate processing, strong vendor relationships, and full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role manages benefits data in the HCM and payroll system, supports employees and internal stakeholders with benefits-related inquiries, and drives process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness across all benefit plans.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily benefits processing, including eligibility, enrollments, changes, terminations, beneficiary updates, disability, accident and death claims, and retirement plan fund transfers to the recordkeeper.
  • Maintain and update benefits information in Deltek Costpoint (HCM and payroll system) and ensure employee records are accurate with all vendors and ancillary providers.
  • Ensure all employee benefit programs are properly administered and compliant with applicable federal, state, and local laws, including ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, OBRA, Social Security, and Department of Labor requirements.
  • Coordinate the transfer of benefits-related data to external partners for services, premiums, and plan administration.
  • Gather employee data and oversee the processing and reconciliation of monthly benefits billings.
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day relationships with benefits vendors, working closely with internal program vendors, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure smooth and accurate employee enrollments.
  • Serve as the primary contact for benefits-related questions from employees and vendors, providing clear and timely guidance.
  • Support benefits renewals, requests for proposals (RFPs), and the implementation of plan changes.
  • Act as a liaison between Human Resources and internal stakeholders such as supervisors, Payroll, and Accounting to ensure alignment on benefits administration and processes.
  • Design and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions, and provide training and support for group benefits associates, home office staff, and field employees.
  • Provide review and management for employee leave programs, including FMLA, state disability leaves, and related leave types.
  • Collaborate with HR to manage compliance with the ADAAA/FEHA interactive process for employees requiring accommodations.
  • Oversee benefits processing and premium payments for employees who are on leave.
  • Evaluate and revise internal benefits processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Document and maintain clear administrative procedures for all benefits processes.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations by managing the timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees, including 401(k) census, audits, and 1095-C forms.
  • Prepare and deliver benefits-related reports and data as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to internal committees related to benefits and total rewards.
Essential Skills
  • Three to five years of related benefits or employee benefits administration experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in benefits administration and benefits management, including health, welfare, and retirement plans.
  • Experience using Deltek Costpoint or similar HCM and payroll systems for benefits administration.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations and compliance requirements affecting employee benefits programs, including ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, OBRA, Social Security, and Department of Labor requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with annual 401(k) plan activities, including match calculations, internal controls, compliance testing, and annual audits.
  • Experience with Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation Plans.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude, including the ability to use Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-state, team-oriented environment.
  • Effective planning and priority-setting skills, with the ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong analytical skills and thorough knowledge of benefits plan designs.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) designation preferred.
  • Experience working with HCM and benefits platforms, with Deltek Costpoint experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with vendors, internal stakeholders, and employees.
  • Ability to develop clear training materials and conduct benefits orientations and information sessions.
  • Attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset focused on enhancing benefits processes and controls.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role operates in a professional office environment, working extensively with HCM and payroll systems, benefits administration platforms, and Microsoft Office tools. The position involves frequent collaboration with HR, Payroll, Accounting, internal stakeholders, and external vendors, requiring regular use of email, virtual meetings, and other communication tools in a fast-paced, multi-state setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Anchorage, AK.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
