Job description

Role Overview
State Street Investment Management ("State Street IM", formerly State Street Global Advisors) is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead the design, delivery, and production support of the Transition Management (TM) & Trading technology platform.
This role will be accountable for end-to-end platform ownership, ensuring high availability, scalability, and operational resilience, while enabling efficient execution of Transition Management workflows across asset classes.
You will partner closely with business leadership, product teams, and global engineering functions to drive platform modernization, reduce operational risk, and improve execution outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Leadership & Strategy
  • Own the end-to-end Transition Management technology platform, covering execution, workflow orchestration, and post-trade processes.
  • Define and execute the platform roadmap, aligned to business growth, scale, and operational efficiency goals.
  • Drive modernization towards cloud-native, API-first architectures, improving agility and interoperability.
  • Drive proactive monitoring, observability, and automation to minimize production incidents and manual interventions.

Transition Management Engineering
  • Deliver and enhance core TM capabilities, including trade execution, cost modelling, analytics, and reporting.
  • Support multi-asset workflows (Equity, Fixed Income, FX, derivatives) with high-performance, scalable systems.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to improve execution efficiency, cost transparency, and client outcomes.
  • Ensure adherence to operational risk, controls, and compliance standards.

Transformation & Automation
  • Drive automation of manual TM workflows, reducing operational risk and increasing throughput.
  • Leverage data platforms and advanced analytics to improve decision support and execution quality.
  • Champion adoption of emerging technologies (e.g., GenAI) where it drives measurable business value.

Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing global engineering & analyst team.
  • Build a culture of accountability, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage delivery across multiple initiatives, ensuring alignment with business priorities and timelines.

Governance & Stakeholder Management
  • Establish clear KPIs across platform performance, stability, and business outcomes.
  • Provide transparent reporting to senior leadership (CIO/COO level) on platform health and risks.
  • Manage key vendor relationships and ensure service quality and integration performance.

Required Qualifications
  • 12+ years of experience in front-office technology and trading platforms.
  • Proven leadership in mission-critical platform engineering and operations within asset management or investment banking.
  • Strong understanding of Trading workflows and execution processes.
  • Experience driving platform reliability, scalability, and operational risk reduction.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms, microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead global teams and cross-functional delivery.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Trading and Transition Management platforms.
  • Strong background in observability, SRE, and platform engineering models.
  • Familiarity with data platforms, analytics, and automation frameworks.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, CFA, or equivalent) preferred.

Salary Range:
$120,000 - $202,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
