The Maintenance Technician will engage in performing various maintenance activities at OPW/Knappco. Will respond to maintenance requests after being submitted through an automated system. The Maintenance Technician will also complete projects as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines and equipment at the proper intervals.
  • Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action.
  • Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
  • Review production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, changes over equipment to new sizes or performs scheduled maintenance.
  • Test equipment to check operation.
  • Clears jams and sets aside product for inspection and rework. Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
  • Examine, tests, and measures product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and records data on appropriate forms.
  • Checks product for visual defects.
  • Make preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action.
  • Examines defects and analyzes spoilage causes and, where possible, takes corrective action.
  • Analyzes and records cause of production delays on daily production report.

Additional Duties:
  • Repair and adjust small machines, e.g. drill presses, punch presses, grinding and buffing heads, riveters, bench power and hand tools to involve replacement of bearings, spindles, electrical switches, etc.
  • Work from drawings, sketches, specifications and instruction manuals
  • Use scale, square, levels, miscellaneous power bench tools, wrenches, carpentry tools, etc. Will oil and grease equipment in absence of oiler and greaser. Performs product examination and rework when line is down due to causes beyond mechanic's control.

Required Education and/or Experience:
  • 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be knowledgeable in skilled trades

  • Must have well-rounded knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment, and materials used within the Civacon manufacturing environment
  • Must possess basic reading, writing, and computation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
