Job SummaryUnder the supervision of registered nurses, assist in implementing medical, behavioral and psychiatric health care of patients. Performs a variety of clerical duties to support the provision of patient care.
Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions- Conducts activities which include, but are not limited to: walks, social events, suicidal monitoring outings.
- Records patient's activities.
- Demonstrates knowledge of vital signs, acquisitions and reporting.
- Functions as a member of the treatment team and is responsible for assigned duties such as observation rounds, suicide risk observation and assisting with behavior modification programs needed by the nursing staff.
- Maintains patient charts in the proper format, including physician orders and progress notes; files reports and test results in an accurate and timely manner; maintains awareness of patient and chart locations at all times in order to locate in necessary.
- Reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate department; practices good computer maintenance of keeping screen and keyboard free of dust and by maintaining an appropriate supply of print paper; is familiar with the steps to follow when the computers system is on downtime.
- Receives patient service and information requests and responds by initiating proper action in a timely manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation
- Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Experience:
- Preferred
- Two or more years of experience (or educational equivalence) in Mental Health, Social Services, and/or Behavioral Science
Certification/Licensure:
- Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Must obtain within ninety (90) days of start date
- SAFE Approach Level III Certification
- Must obtain within six (6) months of start date
