Job description

Overview: Our top client is seeking an RN Behavioral Manager Inpatient Pediatric to join their team in Roanoke, VA, and Christiansburg, VA. The Nursing Unit Manager will have 24-hour accountability and responsibility for a direct care nursing unit/area, providing a vital link between the strategic direction of the organization and the point of care. The Unit Director is responsible for creating safe, healthy environments that support the work of the healthcare team and contribute to patient and employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical knowledge and leadership mentoring and support to Assistant Nurse Manager and ED staff
  • Initiate developmental/performance-based conversations and provide opportunities for professional growth
  • Cultivate interprofessional relationships and maintain high visibility in the nursing unit
  • Develop unit goals, action plans, and outcome monitoring in alignment with the nursing and organizational strategic plan
  • Engage all direct reports in meeting strategic unit goals, including Quality, Patient Experience, Employee Engagement, Staff Retention, and Throughput
  • Plan the budget and manage expenses in alignment with global cost-saving initiatives, including staffing mix and supply management
Requirements:
  • BSN Required
  • Experience: 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • AHA BLS-HCP required • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification highly preferred
  • In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, de-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained going forward
  • If the candidate does not have CPI Cert, they must qualify within 3 months of hire
