Our team of Account Managers and Staffing Coordinators work together to refer the highest caliber of professionals with degrees, certifications and licenses of varying levels in the fields of social services, psychiatry, occupational therapy, language speech pathology, special education teachers, para professionals, mental health, addictions treatment, allied therapies and pharmacy. We primarily provide service supplemental staffing services to school districts and charter schools, hospitals, community mental health centers, outpatient treatment facilities, and residential homes.

Job Description

As a Psych Mental Health Nurse your primary responsibilities will be to facilitate nursing activities for the agency.It is important to that we find a candidate who is open to the reality of his/her license being the authority that allows individual staff to administer medications in the group home in accordance with the Nurse Delegation Program (Required by the State of Alabama).

There are eight group homes in the Montgomery area and a good amount of time for the RN is spent coordinating and attending (if needed) medical appointments and meetings concerning the patient; advising staff; coordinating with the pharmacy; conducting assessments on patients (if there is a medical need); and ensuring medical records are up to date.

You will be utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation , evaluation, and effectively interacts with staff and other health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

JOB DUTIES

1. Monitors level of prescription medication available to clients

2. Coordinates psychiatric face-to-face consultations with clients as follows: (a) ascertain that all charts are available and (b) provide clinical feedback to psychiatrist.

3. Orders prescriptions from pharmacy.

4. Receives prescriptions from pharmacy.

5 Delivers prescriptions to residential clients.

6. Receives, reviews, records, and executes physician's orders.

7. Maintains medication logs and document necessary changes in dosage as per physician orders in day program as well as in residential program.

8. Administers and performs other nursing procedures as per physician orders.

9. Conducts medication education and training sessions for staff and clients twice yearly; more frequently, if necessary. When new staff is employed within residential program, medication orientation must be provided to them during the first week of employment.

10. Coordinates laboratory testing services as follows: (a) identify clients in need of laboratory testing, (b) prepare laboratory slips to request testing services, (c) receive and evaluate laboratory testing results, (d) document results accordingly.

11. Performs Pre-Admission Screening functions.

12. Performs the admission and discharge nursing assessment on assigned patients, including appropriate and timely charting and filing.

13. Conducts and records health assessment screening on all admissions.

14. Participates in multi-disciplinary staffing and clinical team meetings.

15. Provides consultation to staff and clients about medical questions and/or concerns and assist staff in planning and implementing appropriate medical interventions.

16. Accompanies staff to physician's appointments for program participants who are identified as being high-risk behaviorally and/or medically.

17. Monitors client vital signs during weekly rounds.

18. Documents all activities on required documents.

19. Attends training programs to improve and update professional skills.

20. Locks up all medication for clients at all times; medication must never be left unsupervised on desks at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum, Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree preferred, from an accredited school of nursing and education/knowledge .Nurse Delegation Program in the state of Alabama Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Alabama.Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable form of transportation.Must have experience working with physically and mentally developmentally disabled individuals.
