Job description

What You'll Do
  • Provide specialized services to clients identified as behavioral health clients.
  • Coordinate and provide direct outpatient psychiatric care; and primarily with the MOUD program. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic services, as necessary. Prescribes necessary treatment for primary patient care; and records pertinent data for review by physicians.
  • Serves as Mentor/Preceptor for applicable student rotations.
  • Prescribes medication utilizing clinic formulary as feasible and per physician assistant protocols.
  • Serves as the liaison with medical care resources when referral is needed per protocols, and requisitions on and off-site lab as needed per protocol.
  • Participate in case reviews during PCHH huddles.
  • Maintains a case load of BH Clients who primarily have Opioid Use diagnosis.
  • Active participant as a member of the therapeutic treatment team and will participate in the preparation and facilitation of a treatment plan for each client. This will include short and long-term goals and the strategies, tactics, and resources to carry them out.
  • Assist in day-to-day clinical monitoring of BH staff and services to ensure clinical and operations quality of care.
  • Assist the Psychiatrist and BH Directors when necessary, in the supervision of the Behavioral Health colleagues. As part of the clinical team, provide input to assure clinical competency and high standards of quality care in the behavioral health department.
  • Assist in chart reviews to ensure appropriate documentation for services provided.
  • Participates in clinical supervision groups assigned and assist in supervisory duties as assigned by Psychiatrist and Practice Manager.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of accurate and current client records, will keep daily progress notes for each client in treatment. These notes will reflect the client's progress, problems, and effectiveness of treatment.
  • Contribute actively to the development of a successful, culturally sensitive, and therapeutic treatment program and offer suggestions, input and feedback related to all aspects of the program in order to meet this goal.
  • Will serve on committees related to the agency's mission and behavioral health services.
  • Participates in continuing education activities on- and off-site when appropriate and feasible.
  • Participates in staff conferences to devise individual patient care plans and to revise and update clinic services.
  • Actively coordinates and support care for Behavioral Health Services in the CommWell Health Market.
  • Serve as a medical provider on occasion as needed in the CommWell Health market.
  • May provide input on Behavioral Health staff Annual Performance Evaluations, as needed
  • Reports to Director of Behavioral Health Services Quality and Sr. Director of BH Services.
What We're Looking For
  • New Graduates Considered
  • Required:
    • BLS Certificate from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
    • Current NCI+ Preventive Certification (Annual)
    • Full licensure to practice medicine by the NC Board of Medical Examiners or Board of Nursing, with valid license
    • National certification as a physician assistant or nurse practitioner
  • Preferred:
    • Minimum of one (1) year of experience with behavioral health population
    • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in MOUD program
    • Certification in behavioral health
    • Experience prescribing psychotropic medications
