Job description

Manager of the Behavioral Health Ambulatory Program

 


Inova 8221 Willow Oaks- Integrated Behavioral Health is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Manager to join the EmPATH (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment, and Healing) and Inova Psychiatric Assessment Center (IPAC) Behavioral Health team. The Manager is responsible for the operational leadership and on-site oversight of the EmPATH and IPAC (walk-in clinic) programs across two locations. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care by supervising clinical teams, maintaining program fidelity, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Program Manager collaborates closely with providers, physicians, and system leadership to address barriers to care, enhance performance, and support staff development. In addition to managing daily operations, the Program Manager leads efforts in program development, performance monitoring, and fiscal stewardship, ensuring both programs align with organizational goals and behavioral health best practices. This role will be full-time day shift: Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Manager Behavioral Health Ambulatory Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of EmPATH (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment Treatment and Healing) and IPAC (Inova Psychiatric Assessment Center) , ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality psychiatric care and adherence to program standards.
  • Provide clinical supervision and support to EmPATH therapists and professional development guidance to IPAC team members.
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, and training of staff to maintain a skilled and compassionate workforce aligned with behavioral health best practices.
  • Monitor and enhance program fidelity to the EmPATH model, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practices and system-wide goals.
  • Drive strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives for both programs, including workflow optimization, patient experience, and clinical outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement business strategies that support census management, throughput, and access to care.
  • Maintain strong provider and physician relations to address barriers to satisfaction, performance, and patient care coordination.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Partner with the Behavioral Health Director to foster cross-departmental collaboration and operational efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's Degree
  • Experience: Minimum of five years' experience post-master's degree in counseling and therapy with children, adolescents, adults and families.
  • Certification:  BLS from the American Heart Association. 
  • Licensure:  LCSW, LPC or licensed Clinical Psychologist

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 2 years post-licensure experience
  • 3 years supervisory/management experience.
  • Ability to foster innovation and drive strategic initiatives that improve patient care, access, and system efficiency.
  • Experience in business operations, including budgeting/productivity management, staffing, performance metrics, and workflow optimization.
