Description
DEPARTMENT: Habilitation
POSITION: Registered Behavior Technician
DEFINITION: The position of Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a responsible position requiring self-motivation, self-initiative, and independent decision making. Under the direction of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to individuals with developmental disabilities in the home, clinic, community, hospital, and day placement settings.
The RBT is responsible for the behavioral support for individuals who display significant challenging behaviors. The RBT will be responsible to adhere to the policies, procedures, and ethics in accordance with the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB), the Department of Mental Health (DMH) in accordance with CARF accreditation standards and that of Woodhaven Learning Center.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  1. Ability to work with a variety of colleagues
  2. Ability to take direction from multiple supervisors
  3. Work 1:1 with individuals in various settings
  4. Consistently implement treatment plans with fidelity (under BCBAs direction) and prepare program materials; treatment protocols that include a wide variety of domains such as skill training, communication, social, and adaptive living skills
  5. Collect and maintain accurate data and clinical notes utilizing data collection software
  6. Review and implement consultation/supervision note recommendations
  7. Participate in ongoing training, evaluations, and meetings, as required
  8. Assist with parent and staff training and clinical assessments, as needed
  9. Communicate effectively with the BCBA regarding progress of behavior goals
  10. Communicate appropriately and effectively with colleagues and families, as needed
  11. Accurately and timely track supervision hours
  12. Annually renew the RBT certification as mandated by the regulatory body to maintain the certification
  13. Work ethically and with integrity while following the BACB Ethical Code
  14. Understand and adhere to HIPPA policies
  15. Adhere to time and attendance policies
  16. Adhere to Woodhaven policies and procedures
  17. Available for flexible schedule changes required to accommodate individual's needs
  18. Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, however, relevant college degree and coursework is preferred.
  • Current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician through BACB is required.
  • Applicant must have the ability to cooperate and work well with the individuals receiving services, their families and staff.
  • This position requires that you successfully complete an initial orientation.
  • This will include CPR, First Aid, Positive Behavior Interventions, Universal Precautions in-service, lifting in-service, a medication administration course and other lectures on basic information regarding State and Federal law relevant to the organization's policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • You will be required to update these in-services annually or as required.
  • A valid Missouri chauffeur's license within the first two (2) weeks of employment is necessary for this position and must maintain acceptable driving status according to Procedure No. 1-8-3, Woodhaven Vehicle Use.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work location (it is typical to serve multiple clients in one day)
  • Candidate must have a clean driving record, and proof of automobile insurance,
  • Candidate must pass a background check annually
  • Strong verbal and written communication, time management and organizational skills, problem-solving
  • All employees who have committed felonies that are listed on the disqualification registry with the Department of Mental Health will be removed from payroll effective immediately unless a request for exception has been approved with the Department of Mental Health.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is
