Three Rivers Treatment Center is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Skills Coaches to join our team. In this rewarding role, you'll provide direct care, mentorship, and supervision to adolescents in our residential treatment and private school program, helping create a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment where youth can thrive.
Every interaction matters. As a Skills Coach, you'll play a key role in teaching life skills, modeling positive behaviors, supporting academic success, and helping residents reach their treatment goals.
What You'll DoAs a Skills Coach, you will:Supervise and engage residents throughout daily routines, recreational activities, meals, and educational programming.
Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while promoting positive behaviors and healthy relationships.
Build trusting, therapeutic relationships with youth while providing coaching in emotional regulation, communication, coping, and daily living skills.
Lead and participate in therapeutic groups and activities designed to support personal growth.
Support students in the classroom by encouraging participation, assisting with assignments, and reinforcing positive behavior.
Monitor resident behavior, intervene appropriately during crises, and utilize approved behavioral management techniques.
Conduct room, contraband, and personal searches in accordance with facility policies and safety procedures.
Complete accurate and timely electronic documentation, including daily logs, progress notes, incident reports, and observations.
Collaborate with therapists, nurses, teachers, and other treatment team members to support individualized treatment goals.
Conduct resident observation rounds and ensure security procedures, including key control and room security, are followed.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, DBHDS, Joint Commission, and facility policies.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
What We're Looking For
Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 19 years of age in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Interdepartmental Regulations for Children's Residential Facilities.
Valid Virginia driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as needed.
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate during crisis situations.
Preferred QualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Human Services, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
Experience working with adolescents in residential treatment, behavioral health, education, juvenile justice, foster care, or similar settings.
Experience implementing behavior management or trauma-informed care techniques.
