NORTH GREENE UNIT DISTRICT NO. 3

JOB DESCRIPTION
 

Position Title: Daycare Assistant

Department: Little Spartan Educational Center  

Reports to: Daycare Teacher/Daycare Director

Hourly Wage - $17.00 per hour

Position: Minimum of 29 hours/week (August through May) 

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting with the Daycare program and its participants.  

DUTIES

  1. Plans and coordinates appropriate activities for children.
  2. Assists children to and from classrooms including arrival and dismissal procedures.
  3. Provides constant supervision of the children participating in the program and gross motor activities.
  4. Communicates well with parents and other daycare staff.
  5. Plans, organizes, and implements the daily dispensing of meals and snacks to participants.
  6. Assists children individually or in small groups in order to help them master skills and to reinforce learning concepts.
  7. Completes required reports in a timely manner.
  8. Models socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement to support participants' possessive growth and development.
  9. Notify the Director of any accident that may occur during the program times.
  10. Assists the district in other tasks necessary in maintaining a professional and positive environment, and performs other duties as may be assigned by Administration or Board of Education.
  11. Assist with children's hygiene and toileting needs

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must have excellent Oral and Written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators and the general public.
  2. Complies with school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
  3. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
  4. Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
  5. Requires employees to have the ability to push/pull up to 20 lbs.
  6. Possess current American Red Cross C.P.R. and First Aid certifications
  7. Complies with all DCFS required background checks and EHR
