Education Aide / Education Specialist Summary

This position is under the direct supervision of the South Connection Program Manager. The program operates 7AM – 6PM Monday through Friday except for designated closings. The position is to staff the South Connection Enrichment Program in Oakwood, a consultation and education project. The project provides an enrichment program for elementary school-aged children.

A Day in the Life

• Plan, implement and valuate activities.

• Supervise students and maintain a safe environment.

• Supervise students being transported to and from schools.

• Prepare and serve, breakfast, lunch and snack daily and perform necessary clean up. ? Drive student in Oakwood vans for fieldtrips.

• Encourage appropriate use of and storage of equipment/supplies.

• Check and secure building before closing.

• Assist children with toileting issues and other special needs that may arise ? Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education/Experience

Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Must be able to pass a background check, motor vehicle check and drug test. Specialist: Must be at least 18 years old and have a bachelor’s degree.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to gain knowledge of current practice management system, electronic medical record, Microsoft Word, text paging, Internet, and Intranet. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations. Must earn and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. This training is available through PHS.
