Position Summary: The Sawmill Utility Fill-In Rover plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the sawmill by providing support across various positions within the facility. This role is designed to provide flexibility and assist with staffing needs in various areas, including equipment operation, maintenance, material handling, and general labor. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, quick to learn new tasks, and capable of working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.


Primary Duties:


  • Assist in various sawmill operations including sawmill machine operation, material handling, and maintenance as needed.
  • Fill in for absent employees across multiple positions, ensuring continuity of operations and minimal downtime.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other sawmill machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Perform general labor duties such as loading/unloading materials, stacking lumber, cleaning, and maintaining the sawmill area.
  • Monitor machine performance and assist with minor troubleshooting or adjustments to equipment to maintain productivity.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times, promoting a safe working environment by identifying and reporting potential hazards.

Required Skills:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or sawmill environment is preferred but not required,
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery (e.g., forklifts, sawmill equipment) or willingness to be trained.
  • Physical fitness to perform manual labor tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow safety guidelines and standard operating procedures.
