What is a BDU?

BDU stands for Battle Dress Uniform, which is a type of military uniform worn by armed forces personnel for field and combat duties. Originally introduced by the U.S. military in the early 1980s, BDUs are designed for durability and camouflage in a variety of environments. While many branches have since adopted newer uniforms, BDUs are still used by some military units, law enforcement, and civilian organizations for tactical purposes. The term 'BDU' is sometimes used more generally to refer to any rugged, camouflage-patterned uniform.
