What is a BDU?

BDU stands for Battle Dress Uniform, which is a type of military uniform worn by armed forces personnel for field and combat duties. Originally introduced by the U.S. military in the early 1980s, BDUs are designed for durability and camouflage in a variety of environments. While many branches have since adopted newer uniforms, BDUs are still used by some military units, law enforcement, and civilian organizations for tactical purposes. The term 'BDU' is sometimes used more generally to refer to any rugged, camouflage-patterned uniform.

Job description

The Director of Student Services at Ben Davis University High School (BDU) provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for all comprehensive support functions within a high-stakes early college environment. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring that every scholar is equipped to navigate the rigorous dual-enrollment path, which requires a seamless transition between high school and college coursework from Vincennes University. The Director manages the counseling department and community partnerships while leading the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and academic intervention strategies designed to keep students on track for both their high school diploma and their Associate Degree. By coordinating semester audits, academic scheduling, and college-level placement testing, the Director acts as the primary architect of the "support squad" that facilitates student persistence, personal responsibility, and long-term post-secondary success.
