GENERAL PURPOSE:ย 

The Business Development Specialist (BDS) is responsible for assisting in planning, developing, and implementing the agency marketing programs, which includes community education, non-remunerative solicitation of patients and/or patronage, and advertising.ย  The business development specialist is responsible to the Regional Director of Business Development.ย ย 

QUALIFICATIONS:ย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in marketing preferred, high school or equivalent required with business development experience.ย ย 

  • At least one (1) year marketing or administrative experience in a health care setting.ย ย 

  • Knowledge of home health care services and managed care plans.ย ย 

  • Basic computer skills.ย ย 

  • Excellent speaking and writing ability.ย ย 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:ย 

  • Plans, develops, and implements marketing plan, upon approval of the Regional Director of Business Development.ย ย 

  • Plans and conducts community awareness activities which inform physicians, health care workers, and patients (current and prospective) of agency programs and capabilities.ย ย 

  • Conducts non-remunerative efforts to obtain new referrals from physicians, and hospital discharge planners.ย ย 

  • Prepares community relation activity reports as directed by the Regional Director of Business Development.ย ย 

  • Performs pre-discharge hospital assessments, coordinates required treatment plan of care.ย ย 

  • Designs agency information and marketing literature and tools for use in the marketing program.ย ย 

  • Coordinates media exposure of the agency to include public service announcements, and advertisements. Assists in the promotion of disease management programs.ย ย 

  • Attends community business functions to gain exposure for the agency.ย ย 

  • Sets and meets job related goals.ย ย 

  • Identifies self-learning needs and utilizes educational programs to assist in learning.ย ย 

  • Contributes to and participates in team and individual efforts to improve the quality of service.ย ย 

  • Assists with health plan contracting activities.ย ย 

  • Speaks effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization.ย ย 

  • Complies with Agency policies on attendance/punctuality.ย ย 

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.ย
