Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.About the organization:Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is a comprehensive tertiary care facility that has been serving St. Petersburg and the surrounding communities for more than 100 years. It is a 480-bed teaching medical center with nationally recognized care across emergency medicine, cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, women's services, and advanced surgical specialties. The hospital's Level II Trauma Center is the only adult trauma center in Pinellas County and, in partnership with Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, is one of Florida's 13 state-certified Level III Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Centers. Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
  • Demonstrates professional judgment in service delivery and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care, recognizes patient conditions, and ensures successful completion of procedures.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statement and commitment to excellence standards.
  • Assesses the patient's physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Provides instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient's clinical history and ensures accurate documentation.
  • Positions patient, equipment, and associated devices. Manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and use of personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Assists in supervising student sonographers.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures the safety of all customers.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, procedures, department guidelines, and education requirements.

Other Related Functions:

  • Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
  • Maintains well-stocked and organized work areas.
  • Works at any facility as required by operational needs or organizational demands.
  • Provides patient transport.
Qualifications

Education/Training:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer(RDMS)registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures which may include invasive procedures such as biopsies, amniocentesis, thoracentesis, breast cyst aspiration, and breast localization, and knowledge of Doppler, 3D/4D, and pediatric sonography.
