All About You
The Electrochemical Engineer will provide electrochemical product support & development of batteries & battery systems. Provide technical support and assistance to manufacturing, purchasing, and quality to resolve issues. Interface with sales/marketing teams and customers to meet or exceed their system requirements with a competitive cost structure design. Review and implement engineering changes while maintaining documentation and configuration management. Maintain MFG-PRO system in Product Engineering. Provide production support by disposition of NMRs and DRs. Assist product FMECA. Participate in the design of the mechanical or electrochemical aspects of cells and components in order to meet marketing and customer performance requirements, industry standards, and specifications.
Requirements
  • BS degree Electro Chemistry, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience with batteries.
  • 5 + yrs. Experience in product or process design, and analytical testing experience.
  • Experience in concurrent engineering
  • FMECA and other problem analysis techniques, and managing supplier partnerships desired.
  • Battery systems knowledge, electrochemistry, application engineering, computer software for engineering analysis.
  • Mechanical, assembly, process, plastic molding, word-processing and spreadsheet skills, and statistical and scientific principles.
  • ISO 9001 (Basic), FMEA/FMECA, and chemical analysis skills.
  • The basic relationship between product design, manufacturability, cost/price/volume, and suppliers

Responsibilities
  • Engage in quick-response problem solving to keep (all product lines) production running as much as possible. Develop production techniques for batteries and resolve product performance issues up to and including product design.
  • Provide problem solving expertise and directions for data collection in a team environment to resolve manufacturing issues, improve processes, correct problems of product performance, and provide valid testing results to confirm problems and the validity of corrective actions.
  • Design new cells for applications in Mobility (Rail, Aviation) and Industrial Standby divisions.
  • Evaluation of new battery materials. Experimental set up for qualification and evaluation testing. Fabricate prototype cells, carry out analytical tests.
  • Manage Production and coating issues for strip and plate manufacturing from an electrochemical engineering perspective.
  • Write TR's, ECRs, ESIs, EFTs, TEOs as needed in the QAD system and support Engineering/Production needs, communicating proposed changes in easily understood text and red-lined documents to expedite review and approval.
  • Research & Development of new materials. Experimental set up for qualification and evaluation testing. Fabricate prototype cells, carry out analytical tests.
