Job description

Job Title: Strategic Sourcing & Contracting Manager โ€“ Battery Energy Storage Location: Denver, CO Type: 12-Month Contract Compensation: $76.00/hr. (W2) Work Model: Hybrid โ€“ onsite and remote

System One is seeking a Strategic Sourcing & Contracting professional to support procurement, sourcing, and contracting activities for battery energy storage initiatives. This role combines strategic sourcing, category management, and contract negotiation responsibilities, with a focus on driving supplier engagement and supporting key business objectives in a rapidly growing area of the energy industry.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing complex contracts, leading competitive sourcing events, and developing supplier strategies. This individual will partner closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to deliver value, mitigate risk, and ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the negotiation and execution of various commercial agreements, including MSAs, equipment agreements, and project-specific contracts, collaborating with legal, business, and technical stakeholders to mitigate risk.
  • Manage multiple contracts throughout their lifecycle, ensuring timely completion and alignment with business goals.
  • Support supplier negotiations covering pricing, commercial terms, performance guarantees, and service commitments.
  • Drive strategic sourcing initiatives by managing RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs from planning through contract award, utilizing structured sourcing methodologies.
  • Develop category insights related to supplier capabilities, market trends, pricing, lead times, and supply chain risks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop sourcing strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee multiple contracts at various negotiation stages, monitor supplier performance, and evaluate market conditions.
  • Balance strategic planning with day-to-day execution across multiple projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Strong experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, category management, or supply chain management.
  • Proven contract negotiation and management skills.
  • Experience leading RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs from start to finish.
  • Knowledge of structured sourcing methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience evaluating supplier proposals, pricing, lead times, and terms.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Analytical, organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
