Job Summary:ย 
The Head Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for various aspects of the Girls Basketball
Program, such as building and maintaining a program within the school, scheduling opponents
(in conjunction with the Activities Director), training, and coaching team members. The Head
Girls Basketball Coach is required to abide by the Montana High School Association (MHSA)
rules and regulations as well as the rules and regulations set by the Cascade School District
Board of Directors and the Cascade High School Activities Director.ย 
Job Specifications:ย 
In order to be successful in this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required):ย 
- 2-4 years of experience coaching basketball at the high school level (head coaching
experience preferred).ย 
- Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.ย 
- Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.ย 
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
school administrators, governing organizations (MHSA), opponents, staff, parents, and
students.ย 
Essential Responsibilities:ย 
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote
individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good
sportsmanship.ย 
- Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the
abilities of student-athletes in girls basketball.ย 
- Coordinate the development, promotion, and recruitment for the Girls Basketball
Program; this includes involvement with the middle school and elementary school
programs.ย 


































- Hold organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to
participate in the girls' basketball program.ย 
- Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and
objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.ย 
- Ensure all girls basketball coaches work together toward a common goal within the girls
basketball program and provide unity within the youth community programs.ย 
- Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities
initially and on a regular basis.ย 
- Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual
and team development.ย 
- Hold a preseason meeting with all student-athletes and parents before the first official
game.ย 
- Assess players' skills and assign team positions.ย 
- Determine game strategy based on the team's capabilities.ย 
- Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.ย 
- Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while
on trips off school property.ย 
- Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all times.ย 
- Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, and facilities,
including protecting students from hazing/bullying.ย 
- Maintain and secure all basketball equipment and uniforms.ย 
- Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all athletic equipment.ย 
- Assist student-athletes with college recruitment.ย 
- Assist the Activities Director with the scheduling of games and coordinate arrangements.ย 
- Act as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with the news
media, booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations.ย 
- Participate in special activities to include senior night, banquets, award nights and pep
assemblies.ย 
- Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding athletic performance of their
student.ย 
- Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.ย 
- Represent the Cascade School District and the Girls Basketball program in a professional
manner.ย 
- Maintain nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.ย 
- Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve
coaching performance.ย 
- Be actively involved with all district youth programs, including in-house and travel
basketball.ย 
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Activities Director or other
appropriate administrator.ย
