Job description

Position Overview:

The Youth Basketball Business Intern is responsible for supporting the business operations and growth of the Washington Wizards Youth Basketball programming. This position will support the department's administrative and marketing efforts through managing the Jr. Wizards social media platforms, growing and maintaining the youth participant database, coordinating and analyzing surveys, and assisting with participant registration and communications. The intern will gain hands-on experience in sports business while supporting initiatives that enhance youth basketball programming.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the day-to-day administrative operations of Washington Wizards Youth Basketball programming.
  • Manage and maintain participant databases, ensuring accurate records and assisting with lead generation and data organization.
  • Coordinate participant communications, including registration confirmations, event reminders, surveys, and follow-up emails.
  • Assist with the creation, distribution, and analysis of participant, parent, and coach surveys, compiling insights and recommendations.
  • Perform research on youth sports trends, community organizations, and potential program growth opportunities.
  • Help manage Jr. Wizards social media channels by creating content, scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and tracking performance metrics.
  • Coordinate inventory and organization of event supplies, promotional items, and program materials.
  • Support planning and execution of youth basketball events, including Game Day Clinics, Holiday Camps, school programs, and community activations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Passionate about sports and supporting the Wizards and the other MSE franchises.
  • Previous marketing/promotional/event/street team experience preferred.
  • Able to interact with youth and fans in an energetic, enthusiastic, and friendly manner.
  • Ability to exercise discretion when working with confidential information.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to move quickly throughout the building using stairs, elevators, and escalators.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Flexibility to work game day clinics, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Pay Rate: $18.40 USD/hour
