Job description

Primoris Energy Services is currently seeking experienced Pipefitters for ongoing and upcoming project(s) across Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, assembling, and maintaining piping systems while working safely and efficiently as part of a skilled crew.

Job Description

Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems.

General Requirements
  • Practice all safety rules.

  • Follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Safely use hand and power tools.

  • Report to and assist immediate supervisor.

  • Perform quality work as determined by project specifications.

  • Account for all tools and materials at the end of your shift.

  • Work well as part of a team.

Functional Requirements
  • Selects size and type of pipe and related material and equipment according to job specifications.

  • Inspects worksite to avoid structural weaknesses.

  • Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and interference with other workers.

  • Cuts, threads, and bends pipe.

  • Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings.

  • Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings.

  • Joins pipe using threaded, caulked, soldering, brazing, fused, or cemented joints.

  • Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

  • Tests piping systems for leaks.

  • Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers.

  • Welds pipe supports to structural steel members.

  • May observe production machines to detect malfunctions or verify repairs (if certified).

  • May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing material during installation.

  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools/equipment.

  • Respiratory protection may be required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Standards
  • 1–4 years of experience in pipefitting (depending on mechanic level).

  • Successful completion of craft test.

  • Pass post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation and background check.

  • Ability to meet client job site safety requirements (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.).

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. (assistance recommended for heavier loads).

  • Stand/walk for long periods and work extended hours on uneven surfaces.

  • Climb ladders, scaffolds, and work at heights or in confined spaces.

  • Wear respirator and other PPE as required.

Work Environment
  • Industrial construction site.

  • Exposure to outdoor elements (heat, cold, rain, humidity).

  • Noise levels from tools and equipment.

  • Possible exposure to chemical substances.
