Kelso Building Services (KBS) is seeking an experienced Senior Building Automation Systems (BAS) Service Technician to support and grow our Building Automation Systems (BAS) service business throughout the Denver metropolitan area. This position is ideal for a highly skilled BAS professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex building systems, working directly with customers, mentoring junior technicians, and helping facilities operate at peak performance.

As a Senior BAS Technician, you will serve as a trusted technical resource for commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, retail, and mission-critical facility customers while leveraging KBS's advanced remote monitoring and analytics capabilities through the Kelso Digital Operations Center (DOC).

Position Summary

The Senior BAS Technician is responsible for the service, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, optimization, and customer support of Building Automation Systems and integrated smart building technologies. The role combines field service expertise with remote diagnostics, analytics, cybersecurity awareness, and customer relationship management.

This position requires a self-motivated professional capable of independently resolving complex BAS and HVAC control issues while maintaining exceptional customer satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair BAS control systems and field devices.
  • Diagnose HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and service agreement inspections.
  • Support controller replacements, upgrades, migrations, and system expansions.
  • Validate sequences of operation and optimize system performance.
  • Assist with commissioning, retro-commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Complete point-to-point verification and functional performance testing.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and system backups
  • Support enterprise and site-level building automation platforms.
  • Assist customers with energy optimization initiatives.
  • Configure alarming, trending, dashboards, and analytics.
  • Support integration of HVAC, lighting, power monitoring, refrigeration, and specialty systems.
  • Assist with Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD) initiatives.
  • Utilize remote monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Develop strong customer relationships.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for assigned accounts.
  • Provide recommendations for system improvements and lifecycle planning.
  • Identify and develop service agreement and project opportunities.
  • Coordinate with project managers, service managers, and sales teams.
  • Mentor junior technicians and apprentices.
  • Assist with technical training and onboarding.
  • Provide field leadership on complex service projects.
  • Support technical standards and best practices.

Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to pass background screening and drug testing.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Niagara N4 Certification.

  • Associate degree or technical training in HVAC, Controls, Electronics, or related field.
