Overview

Barrister Global Services Network is seeking experienced 1099 Field Service Technicians to provide onsite technical support for commercial and enterprise clients across multiple industries.

This role is ideal for technicians with strong hands-on experience in break/fix services, hardware replacement, installations, deployments, printer repair, POS systems, networking, cabling, and general onsite IT support.

Technicians operate as independent contractors and are dispatched to service calls within their preferred coverage area.

This is a field-based role requiring travel to customer locations for diagnosis, repair, installation, and resolution of technical issues.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite break/fix support for desktops, laptops, printers, servers, POS systems, and network equipment
  • Perform hardware diagnostics and component replacement (LCDs, motherboards, hard drives, RAM, printers, etc.)
  • Complete new equipment installations, rollouts, and deployments
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, structured cabbling, and peripheral device issues
  • Support printer maintenance, toner systems, and multifunction devices
  • Perform smart hands support for enterprise IT environments
  • Maintain clear communication with dispatch, service delivery managers, and clients
  • Update work order notes, ETA status, and service completion details accurately
  • Follow client-specific scope of work and service procedures
  • Maintain professionalism while representing the company onsite

Required Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 1+ year of onsite IT field service experience
  • Previous hands-on experience in one or more of the following:
    • Desktop Support
    • Printer Break/Fix
    • POS Support
    • Server Support
    • Network Support
    • Cabling / Low Voltage
    • Hardware Deployment
    • Device Installations
    • Smart Hands Support

Strongly Preferred Experience

  • LCD replacement
  • Motherboard / system board replacement
  • Printer diagnostics and repair
  • Server hardware support
  • Rack and stack experience
  • Retail, healthcare, banking, or enterprise environment support

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Ability to travel to customer sites within assigned territory
  • Must have basic technician tools required for field service work
  • Smartphone with reliable internet access
  • Laptop preferred for reporting and diagnostics
  • Ability to pass client-required background checks when applicable
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Professional communication skills and strong customer service mindset

Compensation

Standard Payment Structure

  • Break/Fix Calls: Flat Rate (commonly starting at $35+ depending on scope)
  • Projects / Installations: Hourly Rate (commonly starting at $25+/hour depending on project)

Payment Terms

  • ACH Payment Only
  • Net 7 or Net 30 depending on client program

Compensation varies by client, scope of work, skill level, urgency, and geographic location.
