Job description

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Bar Porter is to uphold the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, ensure glassware and supplies are fully stocked and prepared for service, delivering product efficiently, perform thorough bar deep cleanings, manage trash removal, and assist the bar team with essential tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Consistently delivers exceptional service to guests, engaging with both internal and external patrons to ensure all bar areas are clean, well-presented, and welcoming.
  • Responsible for the timely removal of trash from all bars, doing so discreetly to preserve The Venetian Resort’s guest experience.
  • Manages the collection of used glassware, ensures its cleanliness, and restocks glassware as needed.
  • Clean and maintain all bar areas including floors, countertops, tables, and seating areas.
  • Conducts comprehensive deep cleaning of the bar areas.
  • Regularly monitors and replaces dishwasher chemicals to ensure optimal performance and conducts tests to verify proper chemical function.
  • Responsible for delivering all liquor, wine, beer nonalcoholic, and dry goods products to all bars.
  • Responsible for changing the liquor in all pump rooms for the service bar liquor lines and changing the kegs for the draft systems.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of assigned outlets, pump rooms, and equipment.
  • Communicates ordering needs to management, handles running and stocking of necessary items for bar operations and assists bars with additional requests as needed.
  • Ensures assigned beverage outlets, pump rooms, and storage areas are clean, properly stocked according to established par levels and prepared for service. Proactively maintains these areas consistently throughout the workday.
  • Collaborates closely with the Warehouse team to verify the accuracy of ordered products.
  • Demonstrates proper handwashing techniques in accordance with hygiene protocols.
  • Food Safety is an essential function of this job. Maintain bar area in compliance with all OSHA regulations, SNHD standards, and company policies to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Adheres to safe work practices, avoiding hazardous behaviors and ensuring personal safety.
  • Accurately completes supply order sheets and promptly reports any maintenance issues.
  • Maintains assigned beverage outlets, pump rooms, and storage areas in a clean, and proactively oversees these areas throughout the workday.
  • Collaborates with management to assist in special departmental projects as required.
  • Has a thorough understanding of Alcohol Awareness training, including regulations related to the sale and service of alcohol.
  • Upholds safety as a fundamental aspect of the role.
  • Maintains consistent and reliable attendance, recognizing it as an essential job function.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned to support operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: minimum of one year of experience in bar cleaning and stocking operations.
  • Must be able to handle alcoholic beverages.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card, Health card and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • Preferred: experience in a hotel-casino environment.
  • General knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits required.
  • Must demonstrate excellent guest service skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests and Team Members of diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
