Job description

Position Summary:

The Utility Porter is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness in the casino, outside grounds, public areas, and offices. Utility Porters will anticipate and respond to Guest issues, providing service in a friendly manner. Utility Porters are also knowledgeable and skilled in the use of heavy-duty cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers and carpet extractors used for proper maintenance of a variety of surfaces within the property. Responsibilities must be performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures.


Essential Functions:

1.ย ย  ย Practice, support, and promote Thunder Valley Casino Resortโ€™s โ€œWinning Attitudeโ€ company-wide culture and demonstrate AAA Four Diamond service standards at all times.

2.ย ย  ย Provide care of various surfaces and areas throughout the property by utilizing heavy duty equipment. Tasks include, but not limited to stripping, waxing, conditioning, honing procedures, high speed burnishing, buffing, carpet extraction.

3.ย ย  ย Responsibilities include the operation of a high lift, street sweeper, and blowers.

4.ย ย  ย Ensure all equipment is used and maintained in accordance with proper procedures.

5.ย ย  ย Responsible for cleaning assigned zone(s), with a safety-minded approach and courteous demeanor among Guests and Team Members.

6.ย ย  ย Responsible for maintaining the Hazard Communication Standard for your area.

7.ย ย  ย Be familiar with OSHA safety codes regarding chemicals. Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when using or dispensing chemicals.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.ย ย  ย High school diploma or equivalent education preferred.

2.ย ย  ย Experience: ย Previous floor maintenance preferred including experience in the operation of commercial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers and carpet extractors.

3.ย ย  ย Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and Management in both written and verbal form and by telephone and radio.

4.ย ย  ย Must be at least 21 years of age.ย 

5.ย ย  ย Must be able to obtain UAIC Tribal Gaming License.


Physical Requirements:

1.ย ย  ย Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.

2.ย ย  ย Ability to lift, maneuver, and move items weighing up to 100 lbs.

3.ย ย  ย Requires the ability to use and carry job related equipment.

4.ย ย  ย Manual dexterity to operate job related equipment.

5.ย ย  ย Ability to crouch, kneel, push, turn, reach, carry, and pull.

6.ย ย  ย Requires the physical ability to stand and walk for duration of shift.

7.ย ย  ย Ability to working in dimly lit conditions and a noisy and smoky environment.
