Job description

The Bartender is responsible for providing professional, efficient, and friendly beverage service to hotel guests while maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, hygiene, and customer service.
The successful candidate will prepare and serve beverages according to hotel standards, maintain a clean and well-organized bar, monitor inventory, handle guest requests professionally, and ensure compliance with all applicable hotel policies, safety standards, and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Beverage Preparation & Service
  • Prepare and serve beverages according to established hotel recipes and presentation standards.
  • Prepare cocktails, mocktails, soft drinks, coffee, tea, juices, and other beverages offered by the hotel.
  • Ensure beverages are consistently prepared with proper measurements, presentation, and quality.
  • Serve guests promptly, courteously, and professionally.
  • Recommend beverages based on guest preferences when appropriate.
  • Maintain knowledge of the hotel's beverage menu, ingredients, pricing, and promotions.
  • Ensure responsible service practices are followed where alcoholic beverages are legally permitted.
2. Guest Service
  • Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional, and attentive service.
  • Take beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Respond to guest questions regarding beverages, ingredients, and menu options.
  • Handle guest complaints and requests professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere at the bar.
  • Anticipate guest needs and provide personalized service whenever possible.
3. Bar Operations
  • Set up the bar before each shift and ensure all required items are available.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of beverages, garnishes, glassware, ice, napkins, and other service items.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the bar throughout the shift.
  • Clean and sanitize bar counters, equipment, utensils, refrigerators, and other work areas.
  • Ensure glassware and bar equipment are clean and properly stored.
  • Close and secure the bar according to hotel procedures.
4. Inventory & Cost Control
  • Monitor beverage inventory and report shortages to the supervisor.
  • Follow established portion-control and recipe standards.
  • Minimize wastage, breakage, spillage, and unauthorized consumption.
  • Assist with stock counting and inventory reconciliation.
  • Ensure all beverages and supplies are stored correctly.
  • Report damaged, expired, or missing stock immediately.
5. Cash Handling
  • Process guest bills and payments accurately where required.
  • Operate the POS system correctly.
  • Maintain accurate records of orders and transactions.
  • Follow hotel procedures for cash handling, discounts, voids, complimentary items, and refunds.
  • Report any discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
6. Hygiene, Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all hotel food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Maintain appropriate personal hygiene and grooming at all times.
  • Handle glassware, equipment, ice, garnishes, and ingredients safely.
  • Follow proper storage and temperature-control procedures.
  • Ensure cleaning chemicals are used and stored safely.
  • Follow all applicable laws and hotel policies regarding beverage service and age verification.
7. Teamwork & Coordination
  • Work closely with servers, restaurant staff, kitchen staff, and the Front Office/F&B team.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding guest requirements and operational issues.
  • Assist colleagues during busy periods.
  • Support hotel events, banquets, conferences, and special functions when required.
  • Participate in daily briefings and departmental training.

  • Previous experience handling hotel guests and international clientele is preferred.
  • Experience using POS systems is an advantage.
