Nine Orchard is a luxury, boutique hotel located on Manhattan's Lower East Side. The Food and Beverage offerings are curated by the Mattos Hospitality team, led by Chef Ignacio Mattos, owns and operates New York classics including Estela, Altro Paradiso and Lodi.

The Food and Beverage program at Nine Orchard includes Corner Bar, Lobby Lounge, a collection of private event spaces, in-room dining, and soon a fine-dining restaurant, Amado Grill.

Job Description

The Bar Manager will manage the daily operations of the bars, focusing on cocktails, beers and non-alcoholic beverages. The Bar Manager will report directly to the Beverage Director and uphold the quality of food, beverage, and service. This position will ensure food and beverage service runs smoothly and that guests have pleasurable experiences. The Bar Manager will maintain, manage, and service the beverage programs, with focus on cocktails, beer and non-alcoholic beverage.

Key Focus:

  • Support the beverage program(s), with key focus on cocktail, beers, NAB.
  • Complete schedules for the bar team.
  • Oversee and manages services in the hotel bars for daily operations.
  • Lead the bar and floor teams to ensure exceptional standards of service and product.
  • Educate the staff on the restaurant's beverage offering.
  • Maintains par levels or all non-wine related beverage at the hotel

Personnel Management:

  • Ensure compliance with occupational, health, and safety standards.
  • Educate the restaurants staff on the beverage offering.
  • Lead the bar team to ensure exceptional standards of service and product.
  • Oversee and manages bar service for daily operations, including opening and closing shifts.
  • Revise and maintain detailed opening and closing checklists for bartenders.
  • Help develop the training program and schedules for new bartender hires.
  • Create and maintain detailed schedules for daily side work.
  • Assists with recruitment, scheduling, and disciplinary action of bar team.
  • Set up and maintain bar preparation systems including juicing, syrups, batching, kegging, and any other bar related preparation to see the successful running of the bar program.
  • Assist with recruitment for bar team.

Guest Service:

  • Ensures all guests consistently receive courteous and efficient service from all team members.
  • Maintain a welcoming and orderly bar environment.
  • Responds positively and promptly to customer concerns and complaints.
  • Maintains guest satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating and auditing food, beverage and service offerings to initiate improvements.
  • Builds relationships with repeat guests.
  • Determines and prepares various bar operation guidelines and recommend improvements.

Financial:

  • Planning, purchasing, and organizing the restaurant's beverage.
  • Helps maintain costing and sales targets as determined by the Principals.
  • Submits monthly liquor / beer / non-alcoholic beverage inventory.

Service Standards:

  • Maintains operations by preparing policies and standard operating procedures in cooperation with the General Manager; implementing production, productivity, quality, and guest-service standards; determining and implementing system improvements.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures including evolving COVID guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Department of Health (DOH) standards.
