Job description

The Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the bar to ensure exceptional guest experience. This role includes managing staff, maintaining inventory, creating and implementing beverage programs, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and driving profitability through efficient operations and outstanding service.
·         Be a team leader to the bar/beverage team and make decisions that are in the best interest of Gordy’s Boat House.  
·         Work with Head Manager to hire, train, and develop Gordy’s Boat House bar/beverage team.
·         Work with Head Manager to promote or hire two bartender leads to help cover open/close, 7 days/week, in season
·         Manage the weekly schedules for all front of the house staff, including bartenders, bar backs, servers, host, expo, food runners, bussers, etcetera. 
·         Manage all scheduling for all Gordy’s Boat House bar service areas - main bar, back bar, Cobalt Lounge, Shore Shack (not Surf Shack) to ensure proper coverage during all hours of operation
·         Live the company culture and values, coach all other team members to do the same. 
·         Lead, train, and motivate the bar team to deliver high-quality service and uphold brand standards.
·         Develop and maintain a creative and profitable beverage menu, including cocktails, wine, and beer selections.
·         Oversee bar inventory, ordering, and cost controls to maintain appropriate stock levels and minimize waste.
·         Manage scheduling, labor costs, and team performance to meet operational goals.
·         Handle customer complaints/concerns that demand management’s attention
·         Ensure that the customer’s experience with Gordy’s Boat House is of the highest quality
·         Work with Head Manager to help develop & implement processes & procedures for the bar to improve operational efficiency and organization.
·         Annually propose updates to our bar menu/bar specials, for all bar service areas, to Head Manager
·         Ensure that all bar service areas (not including Surf Shack) are opened and closed properly each day and kept in a clean and organized manner
·         Help create, update, and manage all bar facility checklists and ensure the team is following each day/week. 
·         Maximize profitability of Gordy’s Boat House by driving bar/beverage sales (in all areas), maximizing Gross Margin percent and minimizing expenses.  
·         Work with rest of the management team to help accomplish company goals annually. 
·         Ensure compliance with all state and local alcohol laws, health codes, and safety regulations.
·         Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper function of bar equipment and work areas.
·         Build strong relationships with vendors and negotiate pricing and promotions.
·         Monitor guest satisfaction and handle any service issues professionally and promptly.
·         Collaborate with management and marketing teams to plan promotions, events, and seasonal offerings.
·         Accurately manage cash handling, sales reporting, and reconciliation at the end of shifts.

Qualifications:
·         5+ years of bar management or supervisory experience in a high-volume hospitality environment.
·         Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
·         In-depth knowledge of mixology, wine, beer, and bar trends.
·         Proven ability to manage budgets, inventory, and costs effectively.
·         Current bartender certification and state-required alcohol service training.
·         Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements:
·         Standing or walking for extended periods.
·         Lifting up to 50 pounds.
·         Reaching, bending, and moving throughout the bar area.
