Job description

Position Summary:
Responsible for assisting the permanent Classroom Teachers in performing activities that prompts the social, emotional, physical and spiritual development of each child enrolled in the classroom in accordance with Environmental Rating Scales and NAEYC best practice standards, and the policies and procedures of The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church and Englewood Baptist Church. The duties and responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of the Lead Teacher, Assistant Teacher and Preschool Director.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Support the mission, philosophy, core values and objectives of The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church and Englewood Baptist Church.
  • Assist the permanent Classroom Teachers in implementing the daily program of activities based on best practice principles of child development in accordance with the school’s curriculum, and church’s philosophies, policies and standards.
  • Assist the permanent Classroom Teachers in maintaining records on each child’s progress and development for the purpose of planning and compliance with all regulatory standards and maintaining a high star rating (Procare).
  • Observe each child daily to assess skills, interests, needs and use this information to assist the Classroom Teachers in facilitating growth and learning.
  • Assist in completing routine reports to maintain compliance with all regulatory standards and the policies and procedures of The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church (Incident Reports, Medication Forms, Sleep Charts, ETC).
  • Maintain a well organized, safe and attractive indoor and outdoor learning environment conducive to optimal learning and developmental progress.
  • Assist with daily health and sanitation expectations for all routine care needs.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, families, children and church staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings, center activities, and staff professional development.
  • Responsible for assisting the Administrative Team and Classroom Teachers in implementing Parent Involvement Activities.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional, Christ-like manner at all times.
  • Responsible for ministering to children and families as the need arises reporting significant ministry concerns to the Preschool Director, Administrative Team or Pastor.
  • Obtain necessary professional development training required each year in a timely manner.

Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to relate positively with young children, parents, and staff.
  • Demonstrate success in working as a member of a team.
  • Effective and strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work successfully with community-based agencies.
  • Must be a professing Christian.
  • Demonstrate Christian values that support the goals and objectives of The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church and Englewood Baptist Church.

Physical Capabilities:
  • Able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety.
  • Spend time outdoors daily in all seasons of weather.
