About the Role:
Assist in the setting up of continentals and coffee break functions. Serves food and/or beverages in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner according to the Hilton's high brand standards of quality.
Essential Functions:
  • Assists in set up of break tables to include linen, service ware, glassware and decorations.
  • Serves the food and/or beverages in the order and expectation of the guest and banquet department to ensure consistency throughout the banquet function. Busses dishes promptly, as needed for needs of the function.
  • Greets guests and responds to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Assists in the cleaning and resetting of banquet rooms and breaks according to banquet function sheet specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for the following function. Assists in the cleaning of all service areas to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Stores all items needed for successful operation of the Banquet Coffee Break Department.
  • Completes extra assignments designated by Director of Banquets or Banquet Manager.
  • Attends all required safety and training seminars.

Supportive Functions:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, at the discretion of the manager based on the particular requirements of the hotel.
  • Performs all assigned side work to include replenishing condiments and restocking banquet shelves with supplies.

  • Performs general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products, as assigned, to adhere to health standards.

  • Assist periodically in support of stewarding and banquet staff.

  • Abides by all Federal, State and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
  • Must be able to communicate well with people. Be a problem solver and an independent thinker and worker. Must be able to delegate responsibility and follow up on assignments.

  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.

  • Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.

  • Basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand inquiries from customers and communicate instructions.

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel.

  • Ability to read and understand banquet event orders and disseminate the information on them.

  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.

  • Learns, remembers, and recites the layout of the hotel and be able to give accurate directions to guests.

  • Ability to transport up to 40 lbs. on a service tray through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift. Ability to lift a five-gallon coffee urn on to and off break tables and carts.
  • Ability to perform all duties within extreme temperature ranges including prolonged outdoor exposure.

  • Ability to operate and instruct others on use of standard equipment, including coffee machines, tea machines, etc.

Qualifications:
Education:
Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. High school education preferred..
Experience:
Prior banquet and/or hospitality experience is preferred.
Licenses and Certificates:
Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates.
