Associate (2-5 Years) - Portfolio Valuation

Stout's fast-growing Portfolio Valuation practice is expanding and seeking exceptional candidates to join our dynamic team. As a member of the Portfolio Valuation team, you will work on cutting-edge projects, leveraging disruptive technologies to help leading asset managers bring clarity to complex valuation matters. As part of one of the largest and fastest-growing independent valuation practices in the country, you will support client engagements across a wide range of industries, asset classes, and geographies.

As an Associate, you will play a key role in executing valuation analyses, including investigating investment operating performance and strategic positioning, conducting company and sector research, and supporting senior members of our global team in delivering best-in-class client work.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of industry-standard data resources and analytical tools, while also engaging closely with Stout's proprietary technologies and AI-not only as a user, but as a contributor helping shape the analytics of the future.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a key member of engagement teams, executing valuation assignments across a wide variety of industries and asset classes, including venture capital, growth equity, private debt, private equity portfolios, and other complex securities

  • Leverage data resources, AI, and Stout's proprietary technology platform to conduct company, industry, and market research that informs valuation analyses

  • Analyze financial statements, accounting records, and other data to identify key operating, competitive, and strategic insights

  • Build and maintain financial models using accepted valuation methodologies, advanced technologies, and innovative datasets

  • Participate in client calls

  • Assist in preparing written reports, presentations, and supporting exhibits

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate deliverables

  • Manage multiple workstreams while meeting deadlines and quality expectations

What You Bring

  • 2-5 years of experience in valuation, transaction advisory, investment analysis, or related fields (private equity, private credit, or asset-based finance preferred)

  • Bachelor's and/or graduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, or another quantitative field

  • Foundational understanding of financial modeling and valuation methodologies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

  • A technology-forward mindset, with a willingness to learn and adopt new tools (e.g., AI, Python, Tableau, Power BI), alongside proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • A strong commitment to delivering high levels of client service

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Progress toward a professional designation (CFA, ASA, CPA, CEIV) is a plus
