Job description

Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a Bank Operations Officer to join our team. Here at Mechanics Bank, we value connection, partnership, long term relationships and working together in person. This role will be working on-site.
Responsibilities will include the review and approval of ACH Origination, Remote Deposit Capture and Wire Transfer services, limits and exception transactions (over limits) for our business clients, within Bank guidelines. The review may include fraud analysis for risk mitigation.
This role will provide support to branch (both Retail and Commercial), and Treasury Management (both Sales and Operations) members through inbound calls, email and fulfillment of service requests, as it relates to the review and approval of ACH Origination and Remote Deposit Capture services and manual wire transfers.

What you will be doing:

  • Performs review and approval for new and/or updated services and transaction limits for Prefunded ACH Credit Origination and Remote Deposit Capture. Including reviewing documentation received to ensure accuracy and completeness and that the proper approvals were received.

  • Performs review and approval for exception transactions (over limits) for Remote Deposit Capture, Pre Funded Credit ACH Origination, Non-prefunded ACH Credit or ACH Debit originated transactions within Bank guidelines. Ensures proper approvals and verifications were obtained prior to approving/releasing transactions.

  • Performs review and approval of periodic service reviews for Prefunded ACH Credit Origination and Remote Deposit Capture clients. May recommend further review and on-site visit for RDC clients when deemed necessary.

  • Provides support to Bank staff with questions pertaining to the requirements and approval of ACH Origination and Remote Deposit Capture services.

  • Monitors exception transactions on a regular basis and make recommendations for permanent limit increases to the relationship managers. Monitors customer and transactional records to identify unauthorized transactions and fraudulent accounts.

  • Performs outbound callback verification to customers using approved contact information on file to confirm the authenticity and accuracy of wire transfer requests and ensure the transfer was authorized by the customer.

  • Identifies any unusual or suspicious activity to determine any potential risk or service misuse, when performing service and/or transaction reviews.

Who you are:

  • Required High School or GED

  • Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Senior Level: Minimum 5 Years of Experience.

  • Strong knowledge of Treasury Management products and services.

  • General knowledge of Federal and State banking regulations pertaining to Online Banking, Remote Deposit Capture and ACH Operations.

  • Adhere to Bank's security and audit procedures as well as industry rules and regulations.

  • Strong decision-making and risk analysis skills.

  • Excellent ability to explain processes clearly and understandably.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proficient skill in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Pay: $70,500 - $85,000 annually
