Job description

Position Purpose
Manage all aspects of the Special Assets team and of the assigned portfolio of Criticized and Classified loans. Provide direction and support to SVP and Collections Officers, including collection oversight, loan restructuring, and liquidation plans along with the identification of and recovery strategies that minimize losses to the Bank and ensure compliance with loan policy and regulatory requirements.  Manage all the daily, monthly, and quarterly reporting of the past due, criticized, and classified loan portfolio.

Position Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Chief Credit Officer to manage the special assets team and provide oversight and direction of the collection efforts, including direct accountability for the Bank's Criticized and Classified loans.
  • Manages policy and procedures related to the Bank's collection and OREO management.
  • Monitors collateral values to ensure timely compliance with regulatory policy and Allowance for Credit Loss requirements for current valuation and impairment analysis.
  • Provide oversight to support the credit team in the collection and analysis of financial statements to propose effective and realistic plans for resolution of past due or delinquent borrowers.
  • Ensures timely and accurate reporting of asset quality, impairment, and charge-offs.
  • Adhere to the Bank's vendor policy and appropriately track/budget expenses when engaging competent legal counsel to support the Bank's collection efforts in connection with judgment/foreclosure litigation, asset liquidation, and bankruptcy.
  • Responsible for the implementation and reporting of workout action plans, including restructurings, forbearance agreements, legal actions, evaluating bank collateral and documentation, and recommending alternative solutions.
  • Attends and reviews watchlist and liquidation reports providing oversight to the Bank's third-party servicers for the government guaranteed, equipment finance, and residential mortgage portfolios.
  • Chairs the Management Special Asset Committee and provides tracking of the Bank's commercial and government guaranteed non-performing and watchlist assets including past due status, accrual status, collateral valuation, risk rating, and action plan.
  • Attends and participates in the Board Special Asset Committee on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintains strong relationships with business units to ensure smooth asset transitions.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of experience in a commercial lending environment with proven experience in commercial collections, credit evaluation, portfolio risk assessment, and/or special assets.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of regulatory compliance requirements with a particular focus on credit collection and debt practices.
  • Demonstrate an ability to be part of a harmonious working relationship among the credit team as well as internal Bank clients with an ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of credit and financial analysis tools and techniques.
  • Ability to identify and quantify business risks and the key drivers of risk and focus decisions accordingly.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to set priorities in a multi-task environment and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Windows based applications.

Compensation

  • Base Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 annually. Final determination of where you are at in the salary range is based on numerous factors such as geographical location, relevant experience, skill set, education, and ability to meet qualifications within the job description. 
  • Additional Compensation: This role will include a yearly annual target bonus based on individual performance.
