Job description

Job Summary:
Balyasny Asset Management L.P. is a leading hedge fund focused on innovative technology solutions. They are seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to develop the core UI for BAM's AI workspace, creating interfaces that enhance user interaction with AI agents and workflows.
Responsibilities:
• Build the core UI for BAM's AI workspace — assistants, agentic workflows, deep research, scheduled prompts, and multi-agent collaboration
• Design experiences for streaming responses, asynchronous runs, tool execution, and long-running agent tasks including progress, intervention, and failure recovery
• Develop reusable rendering systems for tool and plugin outputs, structured results, citations, and rich AI artifacts
• Drive frontend architecture across state management, rendering strategy, performance, testing, and observability
• Partner with backend and ML engineers to translate model and agent capabilities into reliable, legible user experiences
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical standards across the platform
• Participate in on-call rotations for production issues affecting the user experience
Qualifications:
Required:
• 10+ years of professional software development with substantial modern frontend experience
• Expert-level React and TypeScript
• Strong Next.js experience and fluency with modern frontend architecture patterns
• Experience building streaming or asynchronous UIs with robust loading, retry, and error states
• Strong understanding of state management, caching, rendering tradeoffs, and performance optimization
• Experience building reusable component systems in large codebases
• Solid testing discipline across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers
• Strong product and UX judgment for complex, information-dense tools
Preferred:
• Experience shipping AI-native or agentic product features in production
• Familiarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar)
• Experience with human-in-the-loop design: approvals, intervention, agent supervision
• Familiarity with Node.js or Python and comfort working across the stack
• Experience with enterprise auth, permissions, and integration-aware UX
• Experience with observability tools such as Sentry or Grafana
• Background building tools for expert users in demanding domains — finance, devtools, security, research
